Jay G. Sailer, MD
Dr. Sailer has been board certified by the American Board of Family Practice since 1995. He attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia and then pursued a medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia followed by a residency in Family Practice at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport New, Virginia. In addition to his practice in Glasgow, Dr. Sailer works part-time as a hospitalist at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. His interest in Family Practice was fueled by a vision of the “barefoot doctor”, to have the means to diagnose and treat common illnesses without the complexities of a major medical center. It has been in the spirit of the general practitioner that he finds the greatest satisfaction in his vocation.
Mary Winston, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, DNP
Dr. Mary Winston received her BSN at the University of Maryland; MSN, DNP degrees and Adult Nurse Practitioner Certificate at the University of Virginia. Her board certification is through the American Nursing Credentialing Center. Mary has lived and practiced in Rockbridge County since 1976. During that time she has enjoyed nursing in diverse settings including inpatient, outpatient, long-term care and nursing education. She has served as a clinical assistant professor of nursing in the UVA Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Mary has also worked with Project Hope providing humanitarian health care to under-served communities in Central America. Her current clinical practice is focused on adult acute and chronic disease management as well as adult wellness/preventive health in this unique rural setting. Mary remains intensely curious about health topics and the natural world. In her time away from the clinic she enjoys learning local geologic/plant/animal/microbial interactions and factoids from her husband, children and science friends. She enjoys the outdoors and is thankful every time she laces up running shoes and heads out the door with great friends (canine and human) for a another run down Plank Road.
Jane P. Sailer, MD
Dr. Jane received her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She completed her residency in Family Practice through the Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to her work at MRFP she serves as Co-Medical Director at Heritage Hall nursing home in Lexington. Throughout her career she's been passionate about helping patients achieve their healthy lifestyle goals. she views home visits as a crucial safety net for the fail and elderly. When not at work she enjoys gardening, reading, yoga and time with Dr. Jay and their 4 children.
Laura Simpson, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, APHN-BC
Laura Simpson earned her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from the University of Virginia. She holds national board certifications as a family nurse practitioner and advanced public health nurse through the American Nursing Credentialing Center. A graduate Rockbridge County High School, she received a bachelor’s degree in classics from Mary Washington College before pursuing a career in nursing. As a registered nurse she gained clinical experience in obstetrics and gynecology, diabetes management, and geriatrics. She is dedicated to empowering patients to take an active role in their health and improving access to services through home-based care for those in need. In her free time she enjoys cooking seasonal meals for family and friends and spending time outdoors with her husband and two children.
